Who we are
This website is run by Backend for Businesses. Contact: use the form on our home page.
What we collect
- What you give us: your name, company, email, the problem you describe, your answers to the cost calculator, and messages you send to our chat assistant.
- How you use the site (only if you accept analytics cookies): pages and sections viewed, clicks, scrolling, mouse movement, time on page, device type, operating system, screen size, browser, language, time zone, your approximate location (country and region, and on our live website the town, worked out from your internet address), the site you came from, campaign tags in the link, whether you've visited before, and any technical errors your browser runs into on our site (so we can fix them).
- Spam protection: to stop automated spam, we keep a one-way scrambled code made from your internet address (not the address itself) for up to 2 days, and with any call you book.
- Our own notes: if you contact us, we may note where you are in our process (for example "contacted" or "call booked").
- Booking details: if you book a call, your name, email, company and the time you chose are used to create the meeting in Zoom and a calendar invite in Google Calendar, which then emails you the invite. Google and Zoom process this under their own privacy policies.
Cookies and similar tools
We use essential storage to remember your quiz answers, form details and accessibility settings on your device. With your consent we also use analytics tools, including Microsoft Clarity, which may record your session (clicks, scrolling and mouse movement) to show us how the site is used. You can accept or reject analytics cookies in the banner, and change your choice any time with the "Cookies" link at the bottom of every page.
The chat assistant
Our chat assistant is an AI. Messages you send are processed by our AI provider to generate a reply, and saved so Daniel can follow up. Please don't share sensitive personal information in the chat.
Why we use it
- To reply to you and prepare for your call.
- To understand which parts of the site help visitors and which don't, and improve it.
- To keep business records and meet legal obligations.
Who sees it
Only Daniel and the service providers that host and run the site, analytics, booking (Google Calendar and Zoom) and chat on our behalf. We never sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Visit analytics: up to 12 months. Spam-protection codes: up to 2 days (longer only when attached to a booked call). Enquiries, bookings and chat messages: up to 24 months, or longer if you become a client. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, or the UK), you may have the right to know what we hold about you, get a copy, correct it, delete it, or opt out of analytics. Contact us (use the form on our home page) and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
